On Monday, April 28, 2025 from 9:00 a.m., the Round Table Debate of the Second Edition of the Jean Monnet Module EU-GLOBACT Transnational Crime and EU Law: towards Global Action against Cross-border Threats to common security, rule of law and human rights” co-funded by the European Commission (2023-2026) will take place in the “Nicola Cilento” Hall of the University of Salerno.

The Jean Monnet EU-GLOBACT Project, coordinated by Prof. Anna Oriolo, aims to promote excellence in teaching and research in EU legal studies at the University of Salerno and, in particular, at the Department of Legal Sciences (DSG), by offering a free, highly specialized and interdisciplinary course on the emerging EU global policy on the fight against transnational crime, relevant for the future professional life of graduates and for the specialized training of legal and political operators.

The Round Table Debate entitled “Armed Conflicts, Crimes and Justice: The EU as a Global Security Provider” is organized in the framework of the IECLO Multidisciplinary Legal Observatory (www.ieclo.org), based at the DSG and is open to the free participation of the academic community (students, postgraduates, Ph.D. students, researchers, scholars), the legal professions, political operators, civil society in general.

After the institutional welcoming adresses of Prof. Vincenzo Loia (Rector of the University of Salerno) and Profs. Francesco Fasolino (Director of the Department of Legal Sciences) and Giuseppe D’Angelo (President of the Didactic Council of the Department of Legal Sciences), Prof. Anna Oriolo, Scientific Coordinator of the EU-GLOBACT Project, will illustrate its contents and structure.

This will be followed by two sessions on: I. War Crimes, Sustainability and Cultural Heritage in EU Law and Strategies(chaired by Prof. C. Risi, who will host the speeches of D. ScaliaV. MercierP. VigniL. Saenko); II. The EU Contribution in Investigating and Prosecuting Core International Crimes Committed in Armed Conflicts (chaired by Prof. M. Nino, who will host the speeches of A. IermanoP. BargiacchiL. BramatiI. Rajcinovska-PandevaD. AlbaneseE. Vannata). A debate will then close the works. See Italian version.
